Krista Israel

Graduated with honours from the Institute for Arts and Crafts in Mechelen (Instituut voor Kunst en Ambacht) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Glass Art, Belgium, 2013. Currently, she is completing her Master’s Degree in the Institute for Arts and Crafts in Mechelen. She received the 10-10-10 Scholarship – a Dutch academic grant for glass artists, 2014.

She has participated in one individual exhibition at Cityhall of Amersfoort, the Netherlands, 2014, and in 12 group exhibitions in Belgium, Germany, Ireland, and the Netherlands, including: Glasrijk Tubbergen, Tubbergen, the Netherlands, 2013; the Coburg Prize for Contemporary Glass, the European Museum of Modern Glass, Rödental, Germany, 2014; Glasmuseum Alter Hof Herding, Coesfeld, Germany, 2014, 2015; Refract, Ireland, 2015.

Her work is represented in a number of public collections, including: Kunstsammlungen der Veste Coburg, the European Museum of Modern Glass, Rödental; Ernsting Stiftung, Glasmuseum Alter Hof Herding, Coesfeld; the National Glassmuseum, Leerdam, the Netherlands.

She uses a wide range of glass techniques combined with mixed media. Her work is inspired by how modern people’s lives are influenced by globalisation, social media, migration and genetically modified organisms (GMO).

She loves exercising yoga, beading embroidery, reading and renovating her house from the 1930’s.
