Vladimir Klein

Graduated from the Secondary School of Glassmaking in Kamenický Šenov,Czech Republic, 1969. Graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague (presently the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague), Czech Republic, 1975.

He was granted an artist-in-residence scholarship for the Mino Paper Art Village Project, Mino, Japan,1998 and at the Seto Ceramics and Glass Art Center, Seto, Japan, 2012.

He was a teacher at the Secondary School of Glassmaking in Kamenický Šenov , 1977-1985, and also the director of this school, 1985-1990.
Visiting professor at Toyama City Institute of Glass Art in Japan, 1991-1995. Chief designer at Bohemia Crystalex Nový Bor, 1997-2005.

He has been granted many honors and awards for his art, such as: the Suntory Prize, Suntory Muzeum of Art, Tokyo, Japan; the Silver Prize at the International Exhibition of Glass Kanazawa, Kanazawa, Japan, 1998; Honor Award, International Exhibition of Glass Kanazawa, Kanazawa, Japan, 2001;  First prize at the Glasplastik und Garten International Exhibition, Münster, Germany, 2004.

His glass sculptures are exhibited in many public collections such as:  Corning Museum
of Glass, Corning, USA;  Notojima Glass Museum, Notojima, Japan;  Suntori  Museum of Art, Tokyo, Japan;  Hentrich Glass Collection at the Museum Kunst Palace in Düsseldorf, Germany; Veste Coburg Collection of Glass, Coburg, Germany; National Muzeum in Warsaw, Poland;  Museum of Design and Contemporary Applied Arts, MUDAC, Lausanne, Switzerland;  Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.

He has also taken part in many exhibitions and contests, both national and international.

 

He loves glassmaking and traveling and is also interested in law.
